Students came to school today at Gainesboro Elementary to find a great surprise! Thanks to a wonderful grant provided to Gainesboro Elementary School, students were able to begin spring break with a new pair of shoes! A big thanks to Rural Compassion, volunteers from the Refuge Assembly of God, our anonymous shoe company, and the faculty and staff of the Jackson County School District. On April 6, 2017 shoes were distributed to all students at Gainesboro Elementary School.
Earlier in the school year, Torri Carver, approached Mr. Joe Barlow, Director of Schools, and the Jackson County Board of Education with information to seek approval concerning a grant through Rural Compassion which made it possible for every student at Gainesboro Elementary to receive a pair of new shoes.
Mr. Barlow said:
that the looks on our students faces mimicked that of a child on Christmas morning. We are confident that this day will remain in the hearts and minds of the students and employees of the Jackson County School District for years to come.
Thank you to everyone for your efforts in making this a success for the children of Jackson County.
